JOURNAL'S AREAS OF INTEREST |
||||||||||||
Etnograficheskoe Obozrenie publishes articles and essays in ethnography, ethnology, anthropology (both sociocultural and physical/biological), cultural studies, as well as book reviews and notes of conferences, seminars, projects, and other important events of interest to the anthropological community. The editorial board welcomes interdisciplinary materials, such as lying in the border zones of anthropology and history, ethnology and sociology, and so on, but traditionally gives priority to those among them which contribute first of all to the field of ethnology/anthropology. Being an edition of the Academy of Sciences, the journal adheres to the scholarly style and accepts non-scholarly materials for publication in rare cases (par excellence brief essays for the section "Inquiries, Facts, Hypotheses"). The editorial board recommends that the authors who are going to submit a piece to the journal for the first time acquaint themselves with the general direction of journal's work by looking through several recent issues of the journal. The journal has a large number of sections that appear in journal's issues on a recurrent basis (including those devoted to Theoretical Questions, Ethnicity and Culture, Ethnic and Social Processes and the State, History of the Discipline, Portrait of a Scholar, Gender Studies, Museum Studies, Archival Findings, etc.). New sections open as new materials or studies emerge. Notes of conferences, seminars, projects and other important events in the scholarly world are published both in the printed version of the journal and in the Etnograficheskoe Obozrenie Online section of this website. The editorial board encourages scholars working outside Russia to submit notes of such events for the EO-Online section on a more regular basis. The editorial board is interested in organizing work on special issues or sections of the journal, devoted to one or another topic of substantial interest to the anthropological community. Guest editors are usually assigned by the board, but those wishing to participate in this or that special section as a contributor are welcome to contact the Editor-in-Chief with suggestions. Topics of planned sections are announced in the journal issues or below on this page. Currently the editorial board considers a possibility of working on the following topics as organizing themes for special sections of the journal: - Tradition and ethnographic time
